Dear VIP:

Here’s a really cute story that was shared with me recently. I think it could speak to all of us as we journey through some of the trials of life. Read it and think about how you could adjust your attitude toward those events.

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed that she had only three hairs on her head. “Well,” she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today.” So, that’s what she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up and looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only two hairs on her head. “Hmmm,” she said, “I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today.” So, that’s what she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up and looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. “Well,” she said, “Today I’m going to wear my head in a pony tail.” So, that’s what she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up and looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn’t a single hair on her head. “Yeeaaaay,” she exclaimed, “I don’t have to fix my hair today.” So, she didn’t and she had a wonderful day.

Attitude is everything. Be kinder than necessary, because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. Live simply, love generously, and care deeply. Speak kindly, and leave the rest to God.

It reminds me of the scripture I referred to last week in Philippians 4:11-13 where Paul states that he has learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

My prayer for you today is that you would have a wonderful day no matter what.

By the time you are reading this our church board will have interviewed John and Cristina Grys to fill our pastoral vacancy. We will know a great deal more as you read this than I do as I write it. My prayer is continually that God will make His will known to us clearly. I believe they will be here worshipping with us today and so you might look around to see if you can spot them. Cristina is a very attractive young lady and it will appear that she is with her father, but it is really her husband, John. Please give them a warm welcome as they visit today and go easy on your comments about the Sr. Pastor.

Today is message #8, “The Possibilities,” in our series on the Holy Spirit. This series will conclude next week with a message entitled, “The Purpose.” On the 24th I do have a special message planned for you and then on the 31st we will have communion together.
April 7 is going to be a wondrous celebration of worship with choir and orchestra as well as some fantastic presentations of drama with students from Napa Christian. This will all be wrapped into a message related to a special message focusing on the resurrection story.

Then, on April 10, I will leave for Romania and will conduct two evangelistic series. One will be in the afternoon in Cervenia. This is the new district for Pr. Florian, whom I have worked with the previous two trips. This is also his home territory and we are anxious to spend the extra time with his father who will come to church only if I am speaking. He is a member of the Orthodox Church, but is not what you could call a practicing Christian. I had some wonderful visits with him two years ago and we are praying that God will touch his heart as he listens to a complete series.

The second series will be in the evening in Maldaeini, where we hope to help them fill this new church as well as finish the outside of it. This will be the first series conducted in this village and we are praying for a good harvest of interests.

Obviously I will want to find a morning, or on the one free evening from the other meetings to meet with and speak to our many, many friends in Peretu. I am sure that many of them will also come to attend one or both of the other meetings as well. These people are so hungry to hear the gospel preached and they are always so excited to have someone come from America to share with them. It is one of the greatest privileges I could ever be given.

We are making some initial plans for a series in Russia next year accompanied perhaps by a medical team along with a couple of our youth. It is very early in the process, but that is where I want to do my overseas evangelism next year and I know there is some interest in some medical outreach as well. What fun it would be to put it all together!

Please keep in mind the financial needs for this year’s ministry in Romania. I would really like to be able to help them finish that church before I move on to another part of the world.

Please continue to pray for me as I conclude this series on the Holy Spirit. More importantly, please pray for yourselves that you may be open to hear His call and to allow Christ to completely indwell you and guide your every thought, word, and action. He who calls you is able to do it. 1 Thess. 5:23, 24.

Thank you for your prayers and love. Find someone you do not know this morning and share that love and concern for them.

With love,
Marvin Wray
Your Pastor
