VIP #379

03/ 31/ 07

Dear VIP:

I don’t have word regarding the decision of John and Cristina Grys as I am writing this, but if fully expect to have it to share with you today as we worship together.  I know that they set aside Wednesday of this past week to fast and pray as they come to a final decision.  Whatever their choice turns out to be, let’s continue to pray for God’s blessing on our church family as we move forward under His leadership.

Well, it’s getting close now.  I am in the final preparations stages for Romania.  Wouldn’t you know that this has been the mildest winter on record for them?  They have had almost no snow and warmer temperatures.  I hate to even bring it up, but watch and see if they don’t get hit with a very unusual late spring storm while I am there.  It would be my luck wouldn’t it?  Whatever happens I know that God is going to touch hearts in the two districts where I will be holding meetings.  Pray for the Holy Spirit’s power to flow through me.  Pray for safe travel and good health.  Don’t forget that I am asking for special prayer times again this year at 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.  At 9 in the morning here it is 7 in the evening there and I will be starting to preach.  At 9 in the evening here it is 7 in the morning there the next day and I will be studying for my next presentation.  It is a wonderful encouragement to know that at those particular hours I have many people praying for me.  The people there know it as well and they love it!

I always love the emails that give the answers children have given to specific questions.  The question posed for the following responses was, “What do you know about angels?”

“I only know the names of two angels, Hark and Harold”  Gregory, 5

“Everybody’s got it all wrong.  Angels don’t wear halos any more.  I don’t know why, but scientists are working on it.”  Olive, 9

“It’s not easy to become an angel.  First you die.  Then you go to heaven.  Then there’s still the flight training to go through, and then you have to agree to wear those angel clothes.”  Matthew, 9

“Angels work for God and watch over kids when God has to go do something else.”  Mitchell, 7

“My guardian angel helps me with math, but he’s not much good for science.”  Henry, 8

“Angels don’t eat, but they drink milk from Holy Cows!”  Jack, 6

“Angels talk all the way while they’re flying you up to heaven.  The main subject is where you went wrong before you got dead.”  Daniel, 9

“When an angel gets mad he takes a deep breath and counts to ten. And when he lets out his breath, somewhere there’s a tornado.”  Reagan, 10

“Angels have a lot to do and they keep very busy.  If you lose a tooth an angel comes in through your window and leaves you some money under your pillow.  Then when it gets cold, angels go north for the winter.  Sara, 6

“Angels live in cloud houses made by God and his son, who is a very good carpenter.”  Jared, 8

“All angels are girls, because they have to wear dresses, and boys don’t go for it.” Antonio, 9

“My angel is my grandma who died last year.  She got a big head start on helping me while she was down here on earth.”  Katelynn, 9

“Some of the angels are in charge of helping heal sick animals and pets, and if they don’t make the animals get better, they help the child get over it.”  Vicki, 8

“What I don’t get about angels is why, when someone is in love, they shoot arrows at them.”  Sarah, 7

I don’t know what your angels are up to.  Mine are pretty tired and are wondering what they ever did to deserve their present assignment.  I wonder if we adults really have any idea as to what the angels do, what they look like, and how close they are to us in our every day activities.  Our answers and perceptions might be just as humorous in heaven.

We are going to have a very special worship service next Sabbath.  The orchestra and choir will be having several numbers to share with us and there will be two drama segments shared by students from Napa Christian.  This is going to be worship that you won’t want to miss and you really should invite your friends to.  I am going to guess that it could go until 12:30 rather than the usual 12:15.  You won’t notice it though!!!

You can notice, by the chart in the foyer, that the roof in nearly paid off.  I hope that we can finish this in the next couple of weeks so that we can be clearly moving toward some other projects that really need attention.  I marvel at your faithfulness.  I can tell you that many of my colleagues marvel when they see our financial strength and your quick response to various needs that come along.  You are, as always, a joy to be associated with and we thank God for you each and every day.

With love,

Marvin Wray

Your Pastor
